Universal API launches in Russia

Travelport, the business services provider to the global travel industry, announces the launch of Universal API (uAPI), Travelport’s ground-breaking global application programming interface (API) content aggregator, into Russia.

As the first Eastern European country to benefit from the technology as part of the regional delivery plan, the team in Russia hosted a workshop specifically for developers, where they could see the technology in action and pose specific technical questions to the Travelport team. Held at the National Hotel in Moscow, 39 developers from across the region attended the four-hour workshop at the end of March, which provided a platform for both parties to interact and exchange knowledge.

“Feedback has been extremely positive so far”, commented Maria Yakushkina, country manager Russia, Travelport. The attendees of the workshop were very enthusiastic at the potential of the solution and we have had a great follow up since the event”.

uAPI, the first global, multi-GDS API available to the travel industry, has now been launched in 12 countries around the world including the UK, the US and South Africa, where similar developer roadshow events were positively received. The launch in Russia will enable the Travelport team to build upon their reputation as a leading technology and solutions provider to the local travel industry while a rollout into further Eastern European countries is planned in coming months.

Yakushkina continued: “Our product team demonstrated the uAPI solution in an engaging and innovative manner and we look forward to seeing our agency, online, corporate and TMC customers benefit from the strengths of this technology which is available now. We are here to support them every step of the way.”
