Cask Ale – The mark of holiday success

34 Haven Holiday parks from across the country have now been awarded Cask Marque accreditation.

UK – Rather than a trip to the seaside, it was a unique visit to Marston’s brewery in Burton for operators from Haven Holidays leisure parks.

34 Haven Holiday parks from across the country have now been awarded Cask Marque accreditation – the first caravan Holiday Park company in the country to gain such plaudits. Haven is part of the Bourne Leisure Group, which also has 13 Cask Marque accredited Warner Leisure Hotels within its portfolio.

The parks, which serve Marston’s Pedigree and Wychwood’s Hobgoblin, had representatives from their award-winning locations visit Burton to receive their certificates on 12 September.

Roger Clayson, national account manager for Cask Marque, said: “It’s superb news to be able to credit the Haven destinations for the quality of their cask ale. Holiday parks don’t usually use cask ale as part of their product line-up.

“It’s fabulous to see that the fastcask developments from Marston’s has helped to open up  new options for operators who may have previously dismissed cask ale as a consumer choice.”

Aside from collecting their official Cask Marque certificates, the Haven park representatives also had chance to undertake a brewery tour and see a barrel making demonstration from the brewery’s cooper.

Mick Newton who heads up the development of food and beverages, from Haven Holidays, said: “Haven offers the quintessential British holiday experience and what better way to celebrate this, than having a quality pint of ale. Through the massive support and on-going advice provided by Marston’s beer quality technicians, we have been able to provide something that our customers really enjoy. We recognise the importance Cask Ale has played in our business & as this is something that cannot be replicated in the off trade, we have worked well Marston’s & the park teams in getting it right on our parks. Last year 13 parks were awarded this accreditation so it’s great news to have all parks who serve real ale to be given the award.”

Dave Saunders, national account Manager, for Marston’s Beer Company, said: “It’s fantastic that Haven is now not only able to serve up cask ale, but is doing it to a great standard. We hope that this is the start of things to come and that this time next year will see Haven able to offer a variety of guest ales to its consumers.
