DFW Airport expects 3.2m. travelers for Spring Break travel period

New concessions and services, expanded customer service available for spring break customers.

DFW AIRPORT, TEXAS – Fresh off a winter storm that brought 3.5 inches of snow and ice recently, DFW Airport is back at full capacity and launching its spring break travel season. Spring break is anticipated to bring more than 3.2 million travelers to the Airport, an increase of 1.4% over last year. Customers who visit DFW Airport during spring break from March 6 through March 23rd will experience new concessions and may also enjoy expanded customer service available by electronic communications and extra helpers in the terminals.

“There’s no doubt we are all eager for a spring break getaway,” said Sean Donohue, CEO of DFW Airport. “With the expected increase in spring break  travelers, we have added extra help and support in the parking garages, at curbsides and in the terminals for the four busiest travel days, one of which is expected today. Our teams of customer service representatives, Airport Ambassadors, social media team and more will be ready to help customers find their way around and answer questions. Once inside, customers will find more new concessions to help make their travel experience at DFW a great start to their spring break.”

Kicking off spring break on March 6 & 7, the Airport will deploy a customer service response team for those two days which will be monitoring social media, telephone and email systems to quickly respond to customer inquiries. DFW is looking for customers to share their experiences using the Twitter hashtag #dfwspringbreak.

For spring break, DFW will also deploy complimentary luggage porters for who will be stationed at every terminal on March 6, 7, 14 and 15.

In the first few weeks of 2015, DFW has opened a number of new concessions outlets for customers to enjoy. New eateries to sample include UFood Grill (B41), Genghis Grill (E33), Peet’s Coffee & Tea (E18), Wendy’s (E33) and Lick (E33). Shoppers will find delights available at new retail outlets like L’Occitane (A19), Amazon Kindle (B20 & D24), iStore (A20 & D21), Benefit Cosmetics (A13 & C28), Essie Nail Polish (D24), Gas Monkey Garage (E22), Lone Star Attitude (E34) and Southwest News (E38 landside).

Customers who fly in and out of Terminal E are encouraged to park in Express South Parking while a portion of that terminal’s parking facility is under construction. With special “trunk-to-Terminal E” shuttle service running 24 hours, passengers can park in Express South for only $11 per day, and take an express bus right to Terminal E and avoid driving in terminal traffic. With Express South parking, customers will enjoy a less than five-minute ride, luggage assistance, complimentary bottled water and newspapers, and up-to-date flight information. Terminal E is home to nine airlines including Air Canada, Alaska Airlines, Delta Air Lines, Frontier Airlines, JetBlue, Spirit Airlines, United Airlines, US Airways and WestJet.

Before heading out to DFW Airport, travelers are encouraged to take advantage of the following travel tips to ensure a relaxing and stress-free experience this spring break:

  • Leave early and arrive at DFW at least two hours before your flight time to ensure ample time to park, check-in, clear security, and arrive at your departure gate.
  • Download the free, new-and-improved DFW Airport Mobile App (Version 2.0), which includes a host of added new conveniences, such as updated parking options, voice concierge, a restaurant / shop finder, customizable weather information, up-to-date flight tracker, and more.
  • Park closer, faster and smarter by utilizing one of the Airport’s four parking options, including DFW Airport Valet, Terminal, Express and Remote.
