Aegean Airlines<.> expects to take delivery of two new AVRO RJ100 jets from British Aerospace by the end of June, finalising the second phase of an investment programme on which it spent 50 billion drachmas this past year.

The firm aims to expand its flight network from the 10 destinations it currently serves to 12 while boosting its daily services from 75 to 80.

With the purchase of the two new aircraft, Aegean`s fleet will comprise six new AVRO RJ100 jets and three fully-refurbished ATR-72 planes from Air Greece.

Following Aegean`s buyout of Air Greece and Minoan Lines` inclusion in its shareholder profile, the carrier renovated the ATR-72 aircraft, which now feature leather seating in keeping with the fleet`s overall look.

Aegean has reported an average passenger load rate of over 60 percent for the first few months of the year, during which it has transported around 120,000 people per month, while it anticipates carrying around 1.6 million throughout 2000.
