Germanwings passengers from Athens and Thessaloniki can already fly at very attractive prices to the Russian capital. On July 16th 2005 the German low-cost carrier operated successfully its first flight from Cologne to Moscow, extending thus its network from the Airport of Cologne/Bonn to one of the world`s most important capitals. To underline the significance of this new connection, on board were more than 40 of the most important local representatives, like the Mayor of Cologne Fritz Schramma, members of the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce, the General Manager of Cologne Airport Michael Garvens and Dr. Joachim Klein, Chairman of the Directory Board of Germanwings.

Germanwings is the first No Frills Airline to fly to the Vnukovo Airport that satisfies the most modern airport standards. Its new international terminal was inaugurated just a year ago, while it is served by a nonstop train connection, taking Germanwings passengers in just half an hour to the city center.

Germanwings, the biggest airline in the Cologne/ Bonn Airport, has already been flying to Moscow-Vnukovo from Berlin-Schonefeld since four weeks. With these new routes, Moscow became Germanwings` 10th destination from Berlin-Schonefeld, whereas the magic number of destinations from the Airport of Cologne/Bonn has risen to`39`.
