The Spanish airline has installed two auto check-in machines for its customers in Vienna’s international airport at Schwechat, and another five machines in the railway station in the centre of the Austrian capital. As the carrier said, passengers can use the machines to check in up to 75 minutes before their flights.

Iberia has installed similar machines in another 10 airports abroad, as well as 15 in Spain, and at the Ercilla hotel in Bilbao and the Wellington in Madrid. Passengers can use the machines to select their seats and obtain boarding passes. When the return flight is booked for the same day or the following one, they can usually obtain boarding cards for both flights at once. The auto check-in facilities can save time in airports, especially at peak periods.

In 2006, 19% of Iberia customers used the machines or on-line check-in on the Iberia web site www.iberia.com, which issues more than 10,000 boarding cards every day. These facilitates are available for travel only to destinations for which passengers are not required to show passports or undergo other security or immigration procedures.
