Investments in Danube Delta

Elena Udrea, the Minister of Tourism of Romania, stated on April 24 that the ministry owns the necessary funds to start construction works for two tourist marinas in Sfantu Gheorghe and Murighiol. The funds will be allocated to the county authorities after solving the legal status of the lands.

Ioan Boieru, vice president of Tulcea County Council, stated that the Government allocated EUR 5.9 mil. for tourism projects in Danube Delta following the last meeting.

Sulina will benefit of an investment aimed to reduce the quantity of concrete on the beach, project being currently under negotiation with city’s authorities. Thus, out of the 6,000 cube meters existing concrete, only the necessary quantity for platforms and utilities will be kept. The landscape will then be dominated by rattan, wood and canes, stated Boieru.

Three years earlier, Tulcea County Council approved several projects regarding Sulina beach, setting up tourist mini marinas in Sfantu Gheorghe, Murighiol and Sarichioi, tourist information centers in Tulcea, Murighiol and Sarichioi, marking tourist objectives in Delta, as well as setting up 10 watch towers in five localities in the Delta. The total value of the projects approved by the County Council reaches EUR 33 mil.
