Mainstream Holidays Airline: First European carrier to sign up for new Boeing 7E7 Dreamliner

First Choice Airways is the first UK airline to sign up for the new Boeing 7E7 Dreamliner passenger jet. The company has signed a letter of intent to take delivery of six aircraft from 2009, soon after it enters into service.

The 7E7 is a family of airplanes in the 200 – 300 seat class that can fly up to 8,500 nautical miles (10,000 miles). Boeing has developed the 7E7 to bring big-jet ranges to mid-sized airplanes flying as fast as today`s fastest commercial airplanes, but using 20% less fuel than current airplanes of comparable size. Passengers will also benefit from a new interior environment, higher humidity, wider seats and aisles and larger windows.

Dermot Blastland, Managing Director of First Choice Mainstream Holidays said: We are constantly looking at ways of improving our customers leisure travel experiences and we believe that the 7E7 will take the comfort of flying to a new level. Just as we were the first charter airline to introduce the enhanced interior of the Boeing 767 we are once again at the forefront of development both in scheduled and charter airlines. We will be able to consider destinations that are impossible to fly to non-stop with our current fleet and are delighted that the lower fuel emissions and noise levels will help the environment.

Marlin Dailey, Vice President Sales for Europe, Boeing Commercial Airplanes commented: We consider First Choice Airways to be one of the best charter airlines operating anywhere and it is no surprise to us that they have been thinking of their future requirements and considered the 7E7 to be the aircraft that would best suit them and their customers when it is introduced to the skies.
