The Institute for Tourist Research and Forecasts, in a recent survey, urged the government to take measures and incentives to boost the sector. The survey showed that investment initiatives were discouraged by the current financial support policies that ensured the viability of unhealthy units.
The survey spotted infrastructure weaknesses, and made certain proposals, which would improve the sector. These proposals include the categorization of all tourist accommodations, increased financial support for small and medium-sized hotel units and strengthening the voice of local hotel unions in the decision-making bodies.
