A more wider and qualitative step towards the international market is the target of this year’s Philoxenia, the Thessalonica International Travel Expo in Greece. Philoxenia which is organized by Helexpo under the auspices of the Greek Ministry of Tourism Development and the Greek National Tourism Organization is introducing a broader Hosted Buyer Programme with new and enhanced events.



The new profile of Philoxenia which will take place between 16 – 19 of November 2006, had the chance to be discussed in a meeting in Athens with the participation of the Minister of Tourism Development Mrs. Fani Palli Petralia and all the tourism related authorities and organizations of Greece with the representatives of more than 23 countries of the Balkans, West Europe, North and South America and Asia.



“Philoxenia is presenting a remarkable upward course the last two years and Helexpo efforts for a new creative era are evident, “ said Mrs. Petralia. “Philoxenia is in the threshold of a new era of creativity and Greece can benefit from the tourism development which is forecasted to boost till the end of the next decade.”



Referring to the Forum of Tourism Ministers of the Southeast Europe countries which is taking place for the first time in Philoxenia, the Minister commented, “This forum is very important for us as Balkans are a good source for attracting tourists to Greece. Development and prosperity of the Balkan and the Southeast countries is filtered through tourism development as well as the caltivation of peace and cooperation.”



Helexpo’s Vice – President Mr. Kostas Mpelimpasakis stressed “Philoxenia is one of the leading supporters of the Greek tourism policy. It is a well known expo which contributes a lot to the reinforcement of the tourism authorities and companies and gives answers for the contemporary patterns of organizing and enhancing tourism”.

Helexpo’s CEO Mr. Themis Kartsiotis made the presentation of the 22nd edition of Philoxenia mentioning “this year’s exhibition is reinforced as the dynamic hosted buyer’s programme with the participation of lucrative markets such as Scandinavia, United Kingdom, Germany, USA and China will give a more qualitative and international status”.



The hosted buyer programme which is co-organised for the second year in the row by Helexpo and Travel Media Applications the parent company of TravelDailyNews International will be the highlight of Philoxenia’s exhibition in November as great number of buyers from the international market show their interest in Greece`s tourism product.
