Rhenus continues to expand activities in Russia

Ten companies from the Rhenus Group will be presenting their services to Russian and international trade visitors on 21-24 April 2009. Rhenus is one of the few logistics service providers in Russia, which can handle the complete transport chain using its own network. To do so, the Group has at its disposal its own coasters, handling facilities and logistics centers inland, for example.

The German economy is the leading player in Russia with approx. 4,500 companies spread across the country. The need for high-quality logistics services is therefore huge. The companies within the Rhenus Group have their own large network and the necessary expertise in this region:

Rhenus Revival is one of the leading logistics providers in the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and has been operating there for 20 years. The company provides a comprehensive range of services at its 22 business locations: domestic and international transportation, consolidation and distribution across Europe, warehouse logistics, supply chain management and facilities for handling special loads.

Maxx Intermodal Systems is the specialist for container traffic in the CIS. Maxx Intermodal Systems has its own offices in the CIS in Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Almaty and Tashkent. This year the company is participating in the exhibition together with its Russian affiliated company – OOO “SNG Trans”.

Rhenus Svoris UAB is one of the leading logistics service providers in the Baltic region and it also offers the complete range of services at its five business locations. The company is not only linked to the Rhenus network, but it has also been connected to the European cargo network, System Alliance Europe, at its Vilnius location since February.

The Port Logistics business area is strongly represented again this year: Rhenus Midgard is offering its terminal capacity at the Hamburg, Nordenham and Wilhelmshaven business locations to Russian shippers at the TransRussia exhibition. Weserport and Cuxport will also be present.

Cuxport, the operator of the deep-water terminal at the North Sea port of Cuxhaven, is particularly advertising its scheduled service to Saint Petersburg in Moscow this year. This service transports a wide variety of goods every week, including cars, construction machinery or timber. The route via Cuxport provides tangible savings in time and costs for consignments between Russia and Western Europe.

The OOO Rhenus-Yuzhniy Port joint venture, which was established last year, is appearing at the TransRussia for the first time. The joint venture started operating a multimodal container terminal at Moscow’s South Port last year. Rhein-, Maas- und See Schifffahrtskontor GmbH is a chartering and ship owning company with operations across Europe in the river/sea and short sea shipping sectors. The company manages 81 sea-going vessels and coasters; it owns 15 of them and knows the shipping routes in Russia well from many years of experience.

Rhenus Logistics BV, Rotterdam, which played a role in expanding the Rhenus business in Russia last year, is also attending the exhibition.
