Swiss posts high load factors for the first half-year

Swiss achieved a systemwide seat load factor of 78.8% for the first six months of 2007, a 1.1-percentage-point improvement on the prior-year period. Seat load factor on intercontinental services stood at 83.2% (prior-year period: 82.3%), while seat load factor on Swiss`s European network amounted to 69.5%, a rise of 1.4 percentage points. Swiss carried some 5.7 million passengers in the first six months of 2007, compared to 5.0 million for the same period a year ago.



Swiss`s systemwide seat load factor for June 2007 stood at 82.7%, virtually unchanged from the high 83% of the same month last year. June seat load factor on intercontinental services rose 1.1 percentage points to 87.2%, while seat load factor on the European network slipped slightly to 73.6% (2006: 76.4%). Swiss carried 1,024,124 passengers on its scheduled services in June 2007 (June 2006: 950 496 passengers).



The number of flights performed in June also showed a slight year-on-year increase: total European flights rose 2.2%, while total intercontinental services were 6.1% up on June 2006. SWISS operated 10 732 flights last month, an overall increase of 2.8%. The greater flight volumes are due directly to the fleet expansion that SWISS has been conducting since last November.
