The World Tourism Organization (WTO) and Highbury House Communications PLC signed a Memorandum of Understanding recently, by which CNN Traveller, the bi-monthly travel magazine published by Highbury on behalf of CNN International, acquired preferred media advisor status with the WTO`s Press and Communications Department.

WTO and Highbury agreed to cooperate in promoting the development of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism, including the Tourism Enriches campaign, aiming at raising awareness of tourism as the most prospective economic activity and the way of life, which enriches individuals, families, communities and all the world.

Among other pledges for cooperation, CNN Traveller will offer special advertising rates to WTO Members, while the editor of CNN Traveller, Dan Hayes, will be invited to speak at TOURCOM regional conferences on tourism communications as a preferred advisor of the WTO Press and Communications Department.

The World Tourism Organization is delighted to establish a strategic partnership with Highbury and CNN Traveller, said Rok Klancnik, WTO Chief of Press and Communications. Knowing the magazine`s commitment to promoting sustainable tourism development worldwide and its extremely high quality content and design, we believe it is the most appropriate partner in developing our communication strategies in the framework of the TOURCOM initiative, while it also provides a bridge to a very sophisticated audience. He added that this is the first time the WTO has encouraged its members to advertise in any of the news media. WTO has experienced outstanding cooperation also with CNN International and eTurboNews, the latter having been designated preferred media partner in crisis and electronic communications.

CNN Traveller Editor Dan Hayes said: We`re delighted to have been chosen to establish this close cooperation with WTO, the United Nations` specialised agency for tourism. We`re looking forward to a providing our input on media issues and working with the WTO to help promote sustainable tourism development. This arrangement will dovetail perfectly with our editorial strategy of providing a broad mix of intriguing articles from all corners of the globe.

It is also available at a wide range of business events and travel exhibitions worldwide. It has a circulation of 107,000 per issue.
