EVA adds flights, services, using Trifecta of new 777-300ERs; Increases San Francisco frequency to 14 trips/week, LA to 21.
SEATTLE – Starting July 1, 2014 as EVA Air introduces the third of three brand-new Boeing 777-300ERs on North America routes, it will increase Los Angeles frequency from 20 to 21 flights a week and San Francisco from 12 to 14. Committed to comfort and quality service for every passenger, it configured the new aircraft with three cabins consistent with its 15 first-generation 777-300ERs and upgraded them with state-of-the-art entertainment systems, Wi-Fi, short-message roaming and more.
EVA is the first airline to introduce Panasonic’s latest-generation eX3 inflight entertainment system (IFE). The new IFE equips every passenger on EVA’s three newest 777s to use SMS roaming to send and receive short messages on their own mobile phones. Once the aircraft reaches 20,000 feet, they can access Sky Wi-Fi to send and receive e-mails, use instant messaging APPs and check in on social media
EVA enhanced its IFEs with high-resolution monitors and multi-touch technology, similar to that used on iPads, Surfaces and other devices. It enlarged Economy and Elite Class premium economy monitors from 9 to 11.1 inches. And it equipped Royal Laurel with 16-inch screens and AV-control handsets that have 4-inch LCD panels, enabling top-cabin business-class passengers to simultaneously play video games and execute seat-back screen functions.
The airline also created new interiors. It designed Economy and Elite seats to give passengers more leg room than similar products and equipped them with 110v AC outlets and USB ports. Economy seat pitch is 32/31 in. and Elite is 38 in. Royal Laurel seats lay flat. Economy Class is configured 3-3-3, Elite, 2-4-2 and Royal Laurel, 1-2-1.
EVA offers recent-release movies, features, games and shopping on the IFE. And from departure to arrival, it extends its warm, friendly service to every passenger.
EVA took delivery of the third new Boeing 777-300ER (registration number B-16720) on June 25. It received the other two on May 21, 2014 and started introducing them on North America routes on June 3. EVA flies one new 777-300ER Los Angeles-Taipei as BR11 on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday and the other New York-Taipei as BR31 on Monday and Tuesday.
EVA also raised both Toronto and Vancouver frequency to four flights a week. Including current Seattle service, EVA’s North American schedule will climb from 45 flights a week to 55.
EVA now operates 18 Boeing 777-300ERs. It will build its fleet to 30, adding four more by 2015 and another eight by the end of 2017. Its three newest 777-300ERs carry 333 passengers.
A Star Alliance member, EVA links destinations worldwide, including cities throughout China and Asia. It offers more flights from North America to Taipei with more one-stop connections to more business and leisure gateways than any other airline.
