Grupo Aeromexico reports 4.5 percent increase in passenger numbers for January-September period

In September 2012, Grupo Aeromexico transported one million 137 thousand passengers, which represents 0.6% year-on-year growth for the month of September.

MEXICO CITY – Grupo Aeromexico S.A.B de C.V., the largest intercontinental airline in Mexico, reports operating statistics for September, 2012.

Grupo Aeromexico transported 11 million 38 thousand passengers in the first nine months of 2012, which represents a 4.5% year-on-year increase driven by a 7.0% increase in international passenger traffic and a 3.6% increase in domestic passenger traffic. In September 2012, Grupo Aeromexico transported one million 137 thousand passengers, which represents 0.6% year-on-year growth for the month of September. Domestic passenger traffic grew 0.4% while international passenger traffic grew 0.8%.

The company’s demand, measured in Revenue Passenger Kilometers (RPKs), increased 4.8% and capacity, measured in Available Seat Kilometers (ASKs), increased 6.8% in the first nine months of the year. Therefore, the load factor for that period was 76.8%. In September, Grupo Aeromexico’s RPKs increased 1.1% and ASKs grew 5.4%, year-on-year. As a result, the load factor for the month was 72.1%.

According to the latest report published by the DGAC (Direccion General de Aeronautica Civil – Mexico’s National Aviation Authority), in August of 2012, Grupo Aeromexico controlled 35% of the domestic market and 15% of the international market. In the first eight months of the year, Grupo Aeromexico’s overall market share was 26%, with 38% of the domestic market and 14% of the international market.
