The Dive Middle East Exhibition (DMEX) 2007 is for the first time taking place alongside Dubai International Boat Show (DIBS) from 13-17 March, bringing together leading names from the world of dive equipment, supplies and services.

From Red Sea resorts down to the Gulf coastal regions, the Middle East is continuing to increase in popularity as a destination for diving, drawing enthusiasts from around the world to its temperate waters, spectacular sights and varied marine life.

Emirates Diving Association (EDA) has teamed up with Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), to run the event alongside the world-famous Dubai International Boat Show, providing a natural meeting point for divers and marine leisure enthusiasts.

Among the attractions on display will be a diving demonstration platform and a floating exhibition area. Demonstrations will feature new underwater cameras and advanced underwater communication technologies, providing visitors on-land with a glimpse of the sea depths.

“Many tourists are drawn to the UAE as a premier diving destination and it seemed a natural extension of Dubai International Boat Show to bring the diving community into the overall event,” said Helal Saeed Al Marri, Director General, Dubai World Trade Centre.

“We are delighted to be working with Emirates Diving Association, which has done so much to encourage interest in the sport within the UAE. By partnering with them, we will be able to ensure that visitors will enjoy a high level of interaction at DMEX 2007 and have the support of experienced divers,” he added.

DMEX 2007 will also focus on current diving trends in the UAE along with educational events aimed at children and diving clubs. Part of group’s mandate in the region is to help promote responsible diving and the protection of marine eco-systems.

“As the UAE becomes a higher profile member of the international diving community, we are delighted to play our part in this process of education and conservation,” said Essa Al Ghurair, Vice-Chairman, Emirates Diving Association.

“Much of our history and tradition – as well as our future prosperity – is interlinked with the health of our oceans. We are confident DMEX will become a key event on the diving calendar, which will play a crucial role across the industry.”
