The United States Consulate in Dubai is, for the first time, to showcase many American hotel industry suppliers directly with a dedicated booth at The Hotel Show<.> in Dubai between May 20-22.

Manned by the Commercial Office of the American Consulate in Dubai<.>, the booth will enable US-based suppliers to represent themselves at The Hotel Show through catalogues, videos and other multimedia forms, according to the US Commercial Attache in Dubai, John Lancia. US commercial offices attached to embassies and consulates worldwide officially represent the US Department of Commerce in Washington DC to promote American exports.

We will be actively marketing the booth to US companies and inviting them to participate with us to expose Middle East and international hotel industry representatives to what America has on offer. It fits in with our mandate to promote American exports and services in the UAE and the region, Lancia explained.

Said Laith Kubba, director of The Hotel Show organizers, Streamline Marketing: Coupled with the traditional US pavilion, representing many major American suppliers already booked for the Show, the booth allows another level of smaller supplier to gain exposure. It fulfills a prime ambition of The Hotel Show, which is to bring diversity and innovation from as many countries and companies as possible worldwide under one roof.

This news follows the recent announcement that Madini Hotelworks, the largest single exhibitor at the 2002 Show and representing many Northern Irish companies, has the backing of the official Northern Ireland Trade Development Centre in Dubai.

A further announcement about strong backing from the Department of Trade and Industry in the United Kingdom is to follow shortly.

The Hotel Show is held under the patronage of H.H. General Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, UAE Minister of Defence, and chairman of the Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing. The Show was purchased by dmg World Media, a subsidiary of FTSE100 company The Daily Mail & General Trust plc last year, and is already benefiting from ambitious international marketing initiatives in the wake of the buyout.

Already, half of exhibiting space has been booked, at least 50% of this by new exhibitors, including strong local interest. Four new national pavilions, representing Thailand, Lebanon, Taiwan and the Philippines, have been confirmed, bringing a substantial number of exhibitors from those countries. The US, Germany, South Africa, United Kingdom, Italy, France, Australia and Hong Kong have once again taken pavilions.

With the Hotel Show now under the umbrella of one of the largest exhibition organisers in the Middle East, it enjoys highly specialised global support, said Joanne Evans, director of the organizers, Streamline Marketing. A further feature of The Hotel Show 2002 will be The Office Show next door, thus expanding its role into a new business area which is growing fast throughout the Middle East. This year`s Hotel Show attracted 115 exhibitors representing more than 200 companies from 13 countries in Asia, Australia, Europe, the GCC, North America and South Africa. The event also attracted over 3,500 quality visitors from the Middle East hotel industry.

The Hotel Show`s international exhibitor line-up will include manufacturers in air conditioning, audio visual, video conferencing and sound systems, bathroom supplies and bed linen, building materials, cutlery and crockery, carpeting and curtains. Also on show will be producers of computer hardware and software, fitness, spa and pool equipment, buses, vans and limousines, landscaping services, management and reservations systems, telecommunications systems, uniforms, and dozens of other products and services vital to a hotel`s day-to-day running.
