Prince Sattam bin Abdul Aziz will declare open STTIM 2012 on Monday


REPORT –
STTIM 2012 – RIYADH: His Royal Highness Prince Sattam bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, today declares open the Saudi Travel and Tourism Investment Market (STTIM-2012), the forum which is organized by SCTA in the Riyadh International Convention and Exhibition Center (RICEC) in the capital.

The four day event which is expected to last until April 5, Thursday, is held under the slogan "Tourism for all… partnership for sustainable development".

It will feature 7 different scientific sessions beginning with next Monday morning, under the theme "Issues in the integrated tourism experience".

In a special session, on the following Tuesday, HRH Prince Mohammad bin Nasir bin Abdul Aziz, Governor of Jazan region, Chairman of Tourism Development Council in the province along with a number of businessmen and investors from Jazan, is scheduled to highlight the tourism potentials of Jazan Province, in addition to announcing a list of approved tourism projects for the next three years.

This year the event will include 13 workshops in which a number of speakers will take part. Analysts and international experts will discuss different tourism types, investment issues and tourism information, as well as review some of the successful tourism experiences all through the event.

Beside the workshops and sessions, this forum will conduct a number of activities to highlight the Saudi tourism’s special concern on the cultural dimension of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia under the theme "Saudi Arabia … the meeting point of cultures", within which a number of models of historic and archeological sites will be presented, in addition to several handicraft and folklore shows.

STTIM-2012 this year as usual, will include tourism trips inside Riyadh city, as well as desert safaris and tourism trips to Al Washam area (Shagrah, Eshaigir and Al Gasab), besides offering special tourism packages to the visitors of the event.

For the second year in row, and under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Sultan bin Salman bin Abdul Aziz, President of SCTA, the winners of the ‘Saudi Tourism Excellence Award’ will be announced an honored in a special ceremony on the sidelines of STTIM-2012.

STTIM this year will witness "The Employment Day" on Thursday same week, in which tourism facilities will offer direct available jobs to the intended citizens.

For the first time, in the STTIM-2012 a special event named, "Hosted Buyers Program" will be held, which will invite a number of travel agencies that operate in the GCC region to visit the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in order to hold business meetings with the buyers.

A number of initiatives will be announced by SCTA during STTIM-2012 and also a host of companies are expected to sign deals during the course of events.

The event STTIM-2012 will be held under the sponsorship of 12 sponsors including the Riyadh Secretariat as strategic sponsor,  Saudi Research and Marketing Group (SRMG) as strategic sponsor; Fairmont Raffles as platinum sponsor; Al Tayyar Group for Travel and Tourism as gold sponsor; Ar-Riyadh Development Authority (ADA) as silver sponsor, Al Taif Municipality as silver sponsor, Elaf Group as silver sponsor, Saudi Airlines as silver sponsor and "the official carrier"; Al Sharq Newspaper as the media sponsor, the Arab News, Al Eqtisadia, and Al Sharq Al Awsat newspapers as media sponsors and Al Eqtisadia Television as the tele-media sponsor.

STTIM is a prestigious event of the Kingdom held on an annual basis by SCTA in an effort to offer new investment opportunities in the tourism development area and concluding business partnerships between national and international companies to enhance and develop tourism infrastructure in the Kingdom.

Several public and private departments are participating in the steering committee of STTIM-2012, and the most significant of them are, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, Ministry of Information and Culture, Saudi Welfare Commission, Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Saudi Arabian General Investment Authority (SAGIA), Arabian Tourism Organization, King Saud University represented by its College of Tourism and Antiquities, and the Tourism National Committee, in addition to advisory committees of accommodation, travel and tourism agencies, tour operators and the tourist guides.
