OneJet announces major service upgrades with Pittsburgh focus

Air transportation network makes significant operational investment as Pittsburgh is selected as primary roll out point for new services.

PITTSBURGH – OneJet, the air transportation network that provides increased access to nonstop travel in small and medium size markets, announced a major re-alignment of its schedule and operations to the Pittsburgh market, including enhanced schedule convenience and upgraded product features for Pittsburgh travelers. The announcement follows OneJet’s previous indication of commitment in February and also comes in tandem with a major local hiring program already underway.

The Company will begin a two month transition period to locally based crew and maintenance operations starting today, with upgraded service available for all departure dates beginning June 8th onward.  Flights go on sale tomorrow morning through all major corporate and online travel retailers.

OneJet’s schedule upgrades include:

  • Re-timed flights, optimally scheduled for Pittsburgh travelers, allowing for convenient morning departures and afternoon/evening returns in all markets
  • Increased flight frequencies, including multiple daily flights from Pittsburgh to certain markets, as well as expanded Monday through Friday service.

In parallel, travelers will find upgraded in-flight service amenities, including:

  • Complimentary WIFI on all flights
  • All-new cabin interiors
  • An expanded selection of premium snack choices available in the gate area and on board.

As previously announced, OneJet will introduce five additional nonstop destinations from Pittsburgh by the end of 2016, including Hartford, Connecticut, along with improved schedules to the current destinations of Milwaukee and Indianapolis.
OneJet CEO, Matthew Maguire, stated: “Today’s announcement positions Pittsburgh as the leading city in our network and the nexus point for the introduction of enhanced services and product features. We are pleased to make this commitment to the Pittsburgh community and look forward to providing further travel convenience for our customers, as well as making the investment in local resources and employees to support these services.”

The Company, which began operations from Pittsburgh in May, now serves over ten Fortune 500 companies, and plans to add up to 80 local jobs over the next three years to support continued service expansion in the market.

“OneJet’s continued expansion at Pittsburgh International Airport shows that our region’s growing business climate is being recognized and demand for flights is strong, from both the business and private sector,” Allegheny County Executive Rich Fitzgerald said. “The transition to locally-based crew means more jobs for our region, and a greater investment from OneJet in the Pittsburgh community. We thank them for that, and look forward to the airline’s continued growth.”

“Access to OneJet service will be an increasingly key factor for airports in providing convenient regional connectivity for their travelers and corporate citizens,” said Allegheny County Airport Authority CEO Christina Cassotis said. “Today’s announcement reflects our corporate community’s strong demand for such service and places Pittsburgh at the absolute forefront to benefit from OneJet’s enhanced service platform now being deployed.”
