This holiday season’s most anticipated project is confirmed – a complete renovation and extension of the Costa Caribe Aquatic Park. Featuring a new children’s area, new attractions and the tallest toboggan in Europe, the second park of the PortAventura family which is right next to the PortAventura Park itself is bound to be a sure-fire hit for all of the family.

As a key part of PortAventura’s strategy to expand and adapt the resort that suits the needs of a more international public, the Costa Caribe Aquatic Park’s expansion is incredibly important and is framed in the €75million investment plan approved by Investindustrial in November 2012. With a budget of €10 million it means an expansion of 14000 m²; making the total surface area of the park in the area of 50000 m².
The highlight among the new attractions is the highest free drop toboggan in Europe. At 31 metres in height, equal to that of a 12 storey building, this ride will mean a challenge for the most adventurous. Those who dare to ride will have to face a 55? ascent and a drop speed of 6 metres per second.
Alongside the free fall toboggan, a more moderate but equally as fun multi-bump slide with a rolling trip and two quick slope changes will be introduced. With a length of more than 100 metres and a height of 19.64 metres this toboggan is bound to be great fun. A 6 lane toboggan will allow both children and adults to compete against one another. The slope’s changes and fun water jumps help visitors enjoy being projected at full speed even more!
A children’s pool will offer the opportunity for children to enjoy themselves in lots of different ways. The pool itself will have two depth levels – 50cm and 30cm and there will also be a pirate ship full of Sesame Street characters and 4 toboggan slides. The Splash pad, a small play area with interactive water jets is right next to the children’s pool – another opportunity for children to have a great time in the water.
The adult pool is connected to the children’s one and both of the pools will be placed at different levels so that a waterfall is created in the children’s pool. As a place to relax as well as swim, the adult’s pool will have water beds and invigorating water effects as well as a waterfall which will reinforce the Caribbean theme.
The whole family will be able to experience a Caribbean adventure by mixing relaxation and a very detailed theme. Green areas with palms and more than 50 species of plant alongside hammocks, pergolas and restaurants offering delicious food will take you to the Caribbean without having to leave Salou!
