UKinbound support Government’s #mytourismjob with their own success stories

The #mytourismjob campaign was launched with the Government’s Five Point Plan which has been introduced to boost tourism across the whole of the UK, encouraging awareness of one of the country’s fastest-growing sectors.

UKinbound has joined up with their partner charity, Springboard, to support the Government’s #mytourismjob campaign, which aims to raise the profile of tourism as an employer and celebrate the career prospects available within the industry.

The #mytourismjob campaign was launched with the Government’s Five Point Plan which has been introduced to boost tourism across the whole of the UK, encouraging awareness of one of the country’s fastest-growing sectors.

As part of UKinbound’s ongoing pledge to the British inbound tourism industry, the trade Association, which represents 350 of the country’s top tourism businesses, is endorsing the Government’s campaign by sharing stories of its own members who have risen to the top of their game. Outlining the career progression and success of individuals from Big Bus Tours, Canterbury Cathedral, E-Voyages, The View from the Shard and AC Tours, among others,  these success stories highlight the vibrant and diverse nature of work in tourism, but also the need for further Government support if individuals are going to be drawn to a career in this sector, and enabled to flourish.

UKinbound’s Chief Executive Officer, Deirdre Wells OBE, said: “UKinbound welcomes the Government’s recent commitment to promoting careers in the tourism industry. Tourism currently employs one in three people in the UK and the sector is capable of further growth but this can only be achieved by encouraging candidates into the industry.”

“Reinforcing the importance of investment in the tourism industry, UKinbound has joined up with partner charity, Springboard, to showcase, through case studies, how their activities and programmes help young people, the unemployed and those facing barriers to work into sustainable employment within the tourism and hospitality industries.”

Springboard’s Chief Executive, Anne Pierce MBE, commented “Springboard is delighted to be working with UKinbound to help promote careers in tourism and is fully supporting the #mytourismjob campaign. Tourism has so many great career opportunities and progression routes and we all need to promote how amazing the industry is.”

Through this initiative, UKinbound aims to encourage the Government to continue investing in tourism promotion, and create the necessary environment for individuals to be trained, develop and succeed in the industry.
