Proving that success in the hospitality industry takes more than simply putting on great parties, Dallas-based Ultimate Ventures this month was named one of the industry`s top 25 destination management companies (DMCs) by Special Events Magazine.

The privately held company grew over 75 percent during 2004, even as its largest competitor closed its doors this month. It is Ultimate Ventures` second major competitor in the last two years to do so. Ultimate Ventures is the only Texas-based DMC to make the magazine`s list.

The industry shakeout has hit the Metroplex especially hard, with two of Dallas` largest DMCs shutting down in the last few years, said Laurie Sprouse, CITE, CMP, DMCP, president of Ultimate Ventures. Sprouse added that many Texas DMCs have faced the same fate during the last three years. Our success stems from a strong, diverse client base and what we believe is the Ultimate difference — pacing ourselves to serve each client personally and passionately. The company hosts approximately 100 special events per year for companies and associations across multiple industries including consumer goods, finance, pharmaceuticals and high-tech, among others.

Ultimate Ventures, which was founded in 1993, has carefully managed its growth. The company has leveraged its people — and technology — to win new clients and keep them long-term. Also, Ultimate Ventures was selected to join the DMC Network, an international trade association comprised of independently owned DMCs. The DMC Network member companies collectively gross more than $100 million annually, have more than 500 staff members, average 21-plus years in business and serve 5,500 clients annually.

This network has increased our credibility and contributed to helping us become one of the premiere DMCs in the United States, Sprouse said. It`s a great way to share expertise and refer business.
