AH&LA honours eight partner lodging associations

The winners of the 2006 Chairman’s Cup awards at the board of directors meeting at The Loews Vanderbilt Hotel in Nashville, Tenn have been announced by the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA). The awards recognize AH&LA partner state associations that have the most significant increase in membership development and retention programs.



Based on dues categories, the following awards were given to states that had the greatest increase in percentage of properties, rooms, and market penetration:



The Alabama Hotel Association received the award for the greatest percentage increase in properties and rooms in the $0–$49,999 dues category, as well as the greatest improvement in market penetration of properties in the under 25,000 rooms category.



The Oklahoma Hotel & Lodging Association received the award for the greatest net increase of rooms in the $0–$49,999 dues category.



The Michigan Hotel, Motel & Resort Association received the award for the greatest percentage increase in properties and rooms and the greatest net increase in rooms in the $50,000–$99,999 dues category.



The Wisconsin Innkeepers Association received the award for the greatest percentage increase in rooms for the $100,000+ dues category, and the greatest improvement in market penetration of properties and rooms in the over 25,000 rooms category.



The Illinois Hotel & Lodging Association received the award for the greatest net increase of rooms and greatest percentage increase of properties for the $100,000+ dues category.



The Alaska Hotel & Lodging Association received the award for the greatest market penetration and greatest improvement in market penetration of properties and rooms in the under 25,000 rooms category.



The New York State Hospitality & Tourism Association received the award for the greatest market penetration in the over 25,000 rooms category.



The Hawai`i Hotel & Lodging Association received the perennial membership excellence award for continued greatest market penetration in the over 25,000 rooms category.



“We applaud these eight partner state associations for their tremendous efforts in increasing membership in their states and thus, AH&LA,” said Pam Inman, AH&LA COO and executive vice president. “Increasing membership is our number one priority, allowing AH&LA and our partner state associations to be a more representative voice for the industry.”
