CHTA Data Center to to provide members with a valuable resource

The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) has launched the CHTA Data Center to provide members with a valuable resource combining statistics from the organization’s member destinations with surveys, reports and other useful information on the region and the hospitality industry.

The ‘members-only’ Data Center is now live on the CHTA website featuring destination-specific statistics on occupancy, RevPAR and visitor arrivals aggregated from member hotel associations as well as Regional Monthly Reports on lodging performance and arrivals from Smith Travel Research (STR) and the Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO).

The highly anticipated resource also features a section on Research, Surveys and Presentations including the June 2009 World Travel and Tourism Council (WTTC) Economic Impact Study for Caribbean Tourism and the International Air Transport Association (IATA) presentation on the airline industry delivered at CHTIC 2009.  Also included is a European Update from AMG Ltd (CHTA’s UK partner), a Travelocity Consumer Confidence study and STR reports prepared especially for CHTA’s Board of Directors comparing the Caribbean’s hotel and tourism industry performance to other warm weather destinations.

The new monthly Caribbean Construction and Modernization Report, prepared by Smith Travel Research, is also posted in the Data Center.

"As the voice of the Caribbean’s private tourism sector, it is our goal to provide a single resource for statistical information, studies and presentations relating to the region," said Enrique De Marchena Kaluche, President of CHTA.

"The aggregated data will have widespread applications for a variety of CHTA members from investment companies and developers examining current trends in the region to hotels and tour operators looking to be more competitive in the global market," added De Marchena.

CHTA is continuously collecting data and information from its member hotel and tourism associations and therefore the amount of data available in the Data Center will continue to increase as more destinations provide their statistics each month.

The CHTA Data Center can be accessed through a visible link on the CHTA website at www.caribbeanhotelandtourism.com. Members will be required to enter their log-in information before being redirected to the Data Center. Members experiencing difficulty with the log-in procedure can contact CHTA at 305-443-3040 for assistance.

Only CHTA members will be able to access the Data Center. CHTA will also be providing ad space and sponsorship opportunities for organizations wishing to take advantage of the high traffic the Data Center will receive, which is anticipated to be predominantly sales and marketing professionals.
