New leadership for Canada`s tourism industry

As Canada’s tourism industry continues to recover from the shocks and disturbances of recent years, it can count on strong leadership from the Tourism Industry Association of Canada, which today held elections for its 2004-05 Board of Directors.



TIAC’s Board of Directors has capable representation from tourism businesses large and small, from various sectors and communities throughout Canada. It is chaired by Wayne St. John, President and CEO of APR MEDIA Ltd.; Vice-Chairs are Joe Fardell, President and CEO of Tourism Calgary, and Stephen Foster, Senior Vice President Operations with Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide Inc. The other members are:



  • Ida Albo, Managing Partner, Hotel Fort Garry

  • Julie Canning, President and CEO, Banff Lake Louise Tourism Bureau

  • Stan Cook Jr., President, Hospitality Newfoundland and Labrador

  • Peter Elmhirst, President, Elmhirst’s Resort

  • Bill Knowlton, Vice President Marketing and Sales, Jonview Canada

  • Pierre Labrie, General Manager, Quebec City and Area Tourism and Convention Bureau

  • Ken Lambert, Vice President Sales and Marketing, Delta Hotels and Resorts

  • Gerry Macies, General Manager, Best Western Macies Hotel

  • Mary Mahon-Jones, CEO, Council of Tourism Associations of British Columbia

  • Michael Resch, President, DFS Ventures Inc.

  • Klaus Roth, Portfolio Manager, Americas, Travel Alberta

  • James Terry, Executive Vice President and COO, Rocky Mountaineer Railtours

  • Susan Tilley-Russell, Vice President, CorporaTel

The elections were held during at Canada’s Leadership Summit 2004, taking place October 24-26 in Whitehorse, Yukon.
