Nearly 2.8 million passengers traveled with SAS in August

In August, total traffic capacity increased with 1.0% and number of passengers increased by 0.4%.

Some 2.8 million passengers traveled with SAS during August, an increase of 0.4% compared to the same month last year.  Also, operational performance remained at high levels and unit revenue and yield continues to develop favorably.

In August, total traffic capacity increased with 1.0% and number of passengers increased by 0.4%. Regularity improved with 0.6 percentage points to 99.5%, while punctuality increased by 10 percentage points to 81.9%. Compared to last year, demand was stronger on domestic and intrascandinavian travel. On our intercontinental destinations demand was lower, partly driven by political turmoil in Hong Kong and a lower demand on leisure travel to North America. Currency adjusted unit revenue and yield showed an improvement of 1.1% and 2.2% respectively.

"In the summer peak season, including August, we have seen an increase in the number of passengers compared to last year. I am glad that, as a result of the persistent work carried out by our employees, we have been able to maintain a high operational quality throughout August. We are also pleased that the number of EuroBonus members has reached 6 million. Besides the benefits of being a member of Scandinavia’s largest loyalty program, their journeys with SAS are automatically carbon offset. Looking ahead, we are seeing a solid demand compared to last year in bookings and I look forward to welcoming our passengers onboard", says Rickard Gustafson, CEO of SAS.
