In the future, if the new service will be popular, both InPost and Katowice Airport do not exclude the possibility of introducing the same solution by security control in passenger terminal A, which is attended by passengers departing to Non-Schengen countries.
From 15 January 2024, passengers travelling from Katowice Airport to Schengen Area countries have access to a new service. An InPost Parcel Locker is at their disposal. The Parcel Locker is aimed at travellers whose items transported in hand luggage were rejected during security control.
The Parcel Locker is located on the first floor of passenger terminal B Katowice Airport, before the entrance to the security control area. In the event when there is an item in one’s hand luggage which is not allowed to be transported on board in the cabin of an aircraft, and which should be placed in checked baggage (e.g. perfume in a flacon exceeding 100 ml), a passenger may send it via the Parcel Locker. Thus far, such an item, in accordance with safety regulations, had to be disposed of.
“We aim to introduce solutions at Katowice Airport which improve the comfort of using our airport. The possibility to send items prohibited in hand luggage via the InPost Parcel Locker is a considerable convenience for passengers flying from Katowice Airport. I am certain that the new service will be well received by passengers,” says Artur Tomasik, President of the Board of the Upper Silesian Aviation Group (GTL SA), the company managing Katowice Airport.
In the event when, during security control, a prohibited item is detected in hand luggage, the passenger will have the opportunity to use the InPost Parcel Locker. The passenger with a rejected item will have the option to return to the beginning of the security control area, where the Parcel Locker is located. Free cardboard boxes and tape are available at the Parcel Locker’s location, allowing to quickly pack the parcel. To post a parcel, it is necessary to use the InPost Mobile app. The Parcel Locker at Katowice Airport allows to send a parcel domestically to a different InPost locker, or to a Polish address.
