“Summer 2024” at Katowice Airport: 106 destinations, 86 airports, 30 countries

Tour operators have announced that during “Summer 2024” passengers departing from Katowice Airport may travel on holiday via 58 routes to 19 countries. Most destinations will be available to Greece.

On 31 March 2024 (Sunday), the summer schedule will commence at Katowice Wojciech Korfanty International Airport in Pyrzowice, Poland. Air carriers and tour operators have announced that the Katowice Airport network of regular and charter flights will allow passengers to travel via 106 routes to 86 airports located in 30 countries. Among destinations handled during the summer season, there are five new positions – in April 2024 Ryanair will launch scheduled flights connecting Katowice Airport with Zadar in Croatia, Alicante in Spain, Malta, as well as Bari and Rome-Fiumicino in Italy.

Summer 2024 – Regular flights

As part of the summer schedule, Wizz Air, Ryanair, LOT Polish Airlines and Air Dolomiti (the airline handles flights on behalf of German Lufthansa) will offer 48 routes to 42 airports in 21 countries. Most routes (11) will be available to Italy – Wizz Air will handle three (Catania, Naples, Rome-Fiumicino), Ryanair eight (Alghero, Bari – new, first flight on 16 April 2024, Forli, Catania, Milan-Bergamo, Rome-Fiumicino – new, first flight on 15 April 2024, Trapani, Venice-Treviso). Six routes will allow to travel from Katowice Airport to Spain – Wizz Air will offer five (Alicante, Barcelona, Malaga, Palma De Mallorca, Tenerife) and Ryanair one (Alicante – new, first flight on 19 April 2024). In summer, it will be possible to travel via four routes to the United Kingdom. Both Wizz Air and Ryanair will operate two destinations; the Hungarian airline will fly to Liverpool and London-Luton, while the Irish carrier will handle London-Stansted and Manchester. Three routes will allow to travel to Croatia – Wizz Air will fly to Split, Ryanair to Pula and Zadar (new – first flight on 17 April 2024). Three routes will also be available to Greece – Wizz Air will serve two (Athens, Corfu), Ryanair one (Athens) – and Germany: Wizz Air and Ryanair will offer flights to Dortmund, while Air Dolomiti and Lufthansa will handle the route between Katowice Airport and Frankfurt. Two routes will be available to Bulgaria (Burgas – Wizz Air, Varna – Ryanair), Cyprus (Larnaca – Wizz Air, Paphos – Ryanair) and Malta (route handled by Wizz Air and Ryanair – the Irish carrier will commence flights as part of its offer on 15 April 2024). Air carriers will also offer single flights to Albania (Tirana – Wizz Air), Montenegro (Podgorica – Wizz Air), Denmark (Copenhagen – Wizz Air), Georgia (Kutaisi – Wizz Air), the Netherlands (Eindhoven – Wizz Air), Ireland (Dublin – Ryanair), Iceland (Reykjavik – Wizz Air), Israel (Tel Aviv – Wizz Air), Norway (Oslo-Gardermoen – Ryanair), Portugal (Madeira – Wizz Air) and the United Arab Emirates (Abu Dhabi – Wizz Air). In summer, there will be one domestic route available – LOT Polish Airlines will fly between Katowice Airport and Warsaw.

Summer 2024 – Charter flights

Tour operators have announced that during “Summer 2024” passengers departing from Katowice Airport may travel on holiday via 58 routes to 19 countries. Most destinations (15) will be available to Greece, i.e.: Athens, Chania, Heraklion, Kalamata, Kavala, Kefalonia, Corfu, Kos, Mytilene, Patras, Preveza, Rhodes, Thessaloniki, Samos, and Zakynthos. Rich is also the offer of flights to Spain – during “Summer 2024,” travel agencies will offer eleven charter routes to this country, i.e. Barcelona, Fuerteventura, Girona, Gran Canaria, Ibiza, Lanzarote, La Palma, Malaga, Minorca, Palma De Mallorca and Tenerife. Four routes will allow to spend holiday in Egypt (Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Sharm El Sheikh, Taba), Turkey (Antalya, Bodrum, Dalaman, Izmir) and Italy (Catania, Lamezia Terme, Olbia, Palermo). Three destinations will be available in Tunisia (Enfidha, Djerba, Monastyr), two in Bulgaria (Burgas, Varna), Cyprus (Larnaca, Paphos), Montenegro (Podgorica, Tivat) and Portugal (Faro, Madeira). Single routes will be realised to Albania (Tirana), Croatia (Dubrovnik), Kenya (Mombasa), North Macedonia (Ohryda), Morocco (Agadir), Oman (Salalah), Tanzania (Zanzibar), the Republic of Cabo Verde (Boa Vista) and United Arab Emirates (Dubai).

“Our forecasts estimate that during ‘Summer 2024’ a record-breaking number of passengers will travel via Katowice Airport’s network of flights. From April to the end of October, we should handle over 4.5 million passengers, and 6 million in the entire 2024. At the peak of the summer season, i.e. July and August, we may exceed 800 thousand passengers handled monthly,” said Artur Tomasik, the President of the Board of the Upper Silesian Aviation Group (GTL S.A.).
