The American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA<.>) is hosting its Annual Conference & Leadership Forum/The Lodging Expo, April 3-4, 2002, at the Loews Philadelphia Hotel and Pennsylvania Convention Center. This year's theme, "Leadership, Unity, and Growth," coincides with the conference's 12 educational seminars on topics such as executive leadership, human resources, environmental issues, insurance issues, sales and marketing, and technology.

Attendees will also enjoy hearing comments from former New York Police Department Commissioner Bernard B. Kerik at the Breakfast General Session on Wednesday. Kerik, who was on the scene moments after two hijacked airliners struck the World Trade Center, will explain how his leadership skills aided his city on September 11. In addition, NBC Nightly News' Tom Brokaw will bring his unique and award-winning commentary to lodging executives from across the United States during Thursday's Breakfast General Session.

Brokaw will also discuss his best-selling book, The Greatest Generation, an account of the generation of Americans born in the 1920s who came of age during the Great Depression, fought in World War II, and went on to continue to build America.

"These forums give hoteliers from all lodging segments the unique information they desire that will surely impact their professional development," said 2002 AH&LA Vice Chairman Michael K. Handlery, CHA, conference chairman and senior vice president, Handlery Hotels, Inc. "Whether a general manager of a small hotel or a CEO of a lodging company, these sessions will educate, motivate, and entertain all who attend."

Additionally, attendees will be able to discuss the lodging industry's latest trends and important AH&LA topics during a new Town Hall series with a few of the association's officers – Chairman Kirby D. Payne, CHA; Past Chairman John Russell; and President and CEO Joseph A. McInerney, CHA.
