Acentic dominates hotel in-room entertainment services in eastern Europe through localisation

Acentic, a leading supplier of digital interactive TV (iTV) systems for the hotel industry, announced that it has become the number one in-room entertainment provider in Eastern Europe. With 12 years experience in supplying and supporting iTV systems in Eastern Europe, Acentic’s range of platforms are now installed in close to 80 hotels and more than 20,000 guest rooms throughout the region, including Poland, Romania, the Baltics, Ukraine, Russia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Turkey and the Czech Republic.

With globalisation impacting the hotel industry in Eastern Europe, it is necessary for hotels to offer the same level of service and amenities in this region as found in hotels across the rest of the world. Acentic’s differentiating factor is localisation, enabling major international hotel brands to consistently meet stringent brand standards and deliver the same high-quality digital TV solutions to their guests across all geographies.

Whilst Western Europe and the U.S. have a great deal of standardisation, many other countries have unique characteristics when it comes to legislation, technology, IT networks, content offerings and availability of qualified staff. Acentic employs a unique distributor model, joining with local expert partners and staff for their local knowledge of government regulations, content availability, commitment to the rapidly growing hotel market and strong technology skills. This combination enables Acentic to work with the local team in each country to ensure the adaptation of Acentic’s technology platform to local specificities.

"Eastern Europe is one of the fastest growing regions, with major hotel brands such as Hilton and Starwood announcing significant development plans. As a preferred provider of iTV solutions to the world’s leading hotel groups, Acentic’s dominance in the region enables us to universally offer solutions that support hotel brands in their expansion throughout these developing markets," said Alistair Forbes, CEO, Acentic.

Additionally, as Eastern Europe is experiencing steep growth and adjusting to a positive spread of EU borders, the multicultural nature of hoteliers and guests in the region also makes service needs complex. At the guest level, Acentic’s flexible platform provides a worldwide TV content offering, multilingual graphical user interface (GUI) and support for hotel management to better serve the multicultural guest mix.

"Acentic has long been a major influence on hotel in-room entertainment in Russia, from pioneering the use of Russian language on guest screens to providing the first LAN iTV system in Russia in the late 90s. The way Acentic has transmitted its expertise to local partners and tailored its products to each market really made the difference in the success of our system," said Joerg Beginen, general manager, Hilton Moscow Leningradskaya.
