Concorde Hotel Singapore earns its forst Hotel Security Award 2011

Concorde Hotel Singapore announced that it has received its first Hotel Security Award. Jointly presented by the Singapore Police Force, National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) and the Singapore Hotel Association (SHA), this annual award seeks to recognise hotels that have achieved a high standard of security.

The annual Hotel Security Awards are designed to encourage the Hotel Industry to raise security standards in light of the worldwide terrorist threats to Hotels. The awards presentation ceremony is held in conjunction with the annual Hotel Security Conference. To qualify for the Hotel Security Award, Hotels have to undergo an audit based on stringent security policies and procedures. Employment and training of security officers must be in accordance to SS545 standards, and Hotels must have security operating procedures and emergency & crisis response plans in place.

Mr. Sattiasilan A/L Ganapathey, a Room Service Waiter at Concorde Hotel Singapore, was also awarded the Special Mention Award, receiving a plaque and a Certificate of Commendation from the Guest-of-Honour, Mr. Masagos Zulkifi, Minister of State for Home Affairs and Foreign Affairs, at the “SHA/Singapore Police Force/NCPC Hotel Security Awards Presentation and Hotel Security Conference 2011”, held at the Concorde Hotel Singapore’s Ballroom on 6 October 2011.

“Concorde Hotel Singapore is pleased and proud to receive the Hotel Security Award,” said Mr. Leo Llambi, General Manager, Concorde Hotel Singapore. “This accolade underscores and rewards our Security Team’s efforts in providing a safe and secure environment for our Guests and Employees”. “We are also delighted for Sattiasilan, who has done us proud by receiving his Special Mention Award today.”

Through the close collaboration of the Singapore Hotel Association, National Crime Prevention Council and the Singapore Police Force for more than 14 years, this Annual Security Conference has become a key Industry event for Hoteliers in Singapore, by providing a platform for discussion of best practices and security concerns faced by the Hotel Industry.
