Aristotelis Thomopoulos, director of the firm AEXEK & I. Thomopoulou which owns the Capitol, said a franchise deal had been signed and that the ownership and management of the unit will remain unchanged.
It is estimated that the cost of transforming the hotel into a Holiday Inn will be around 300 million drachmas and that the unit will join the chain by next March.
BHR has decided to grant the Capitol the distinction of bearing the title Holiday Inn International Model, setting it apart from other Holiday Inns.
The Capitol has 332 beds, 178 rooms and suites, and recently completed a 1.5 billion drachma renovation which earned it a deluxe rating.
