Following the merger agreement between American Airlines and US Airways in December 2013, the combined airline is launching a number of new routes from May 2014.
New Services to Charlotte Douglas International Airport
Starting 23rd May, American Airlines (operated by US Airways) will also launch two new nonstop services from Lisbon Airport (LIS) and Barcelona Airport (BCN) to Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). On 6th June American Airlines (operated by US Airways) will launch Brussels Airport (BRU) to Charlotte (CLT).
These routes will complement the existing services from the same European airports to Philadelphia (also operated by US Airways). In Barcelona and Manchester, this will take the combined airline’s service to four daily departures to the US: American also flies Barcelona to Miami (MIA) and New York (JFK) and Manchester to New York (JFK) and Chicago (ORD).
Brand New Station in Edinburgh
On 24th May, American Airlines (operated by US Airways) will start services from Edinburgh Airport (EDI) with a daily flight to Philadelphia Airport (PHL). US Airways has operated a seasonal service from Glasgow (GLA) to Philadelphia since 2004, but this is the first route for the airline from Scotland’s capital city.
These new additions will give customers travelling from Europe, convenient access to the airline’s East Coast shuttle – an almost hourly service connecting major locations along the East Coast of the USA. Furthermore, Philadelphia and Charlotte provide over 1000 routes to destinations across the US.
