A dedicated golf travel iPad application for South Africa – the first of its kind for the country – has been launched by Giltedge Golf & Sport, a division of luxury travel group, Giltedge Travel.
The Apple application is an interactive tool that allows users to familiarise themselves with South Africa’s golf and safari products before making informed decisions on their stays. Users can search for the best golf locations, information on hotels, game lodges and golf resorts, view hotel room layouts, get detailed golf course information and view suggested golf and safari itineraries. Spoilt for choice, would-be visitors may also browse through locations and itineraries before briefing Giltedge on making their tailor-made golf holiday come true.
Skye Grove, Communications Manager at Cape Town Tourism, comments; “We have some of the world’s most beautiful and well-designed golf courses in Cape Town and the Western Cape. Golf travellers are a high end group. Based on recent golf tourism research we know that a long-haul golf holiday usually lasts ten to fourteen days and that international golf tourists travelling to the Western Cape spend an average of R13 000 on the game. It is also estimated that about 70% of golfers like to find new places to play golf when on holiday, which is good news for the more than 70 golf courses in the Western Cape.”
