Meetings industry experts team up to offer new international marketing service

Mexia Watterston Mills (MWM) is an alliance of specialist meetings industry PR and social media firm Mexia Communications, destination marketing experts Watterston Associates and experienced international meetings marketing professional Simon Mills.

A group of meetings industry sales and marketing experts have teamed up to form a new international marketing alliance offering a ‘one-stop shop’ for multilingual marketing resources across the global meetings sector. Mexia Watterston Mills (MWM) is an alliance of specialist meetings industry PR and social media firm Mexia Communications, destination marketing experts Watterston Associates and experienced international meetings marketing professional Simon Mills. The multilingual trio have joined forces to offer a comprehensive service to international destinations and venues looking to target meetings buyers across the globe.

With almost 20 years’ experience in the international tourism and meetings sector, Simon Mills brings a wealth of marketing expertise gained in a variety of roles, in particular international posts with Visit Britain and more recently on the venue side with Twickenham Experience. He commented: “Competition for buyer attention is at an all-time high, with new destinations and venues adding to their sometimes bewildering range of options. Our aim is to offer a one-stop shop to create bespoke marketing services according to client needs that enables them to stand out from the crowd and grow their business in the international meetings sector. I have personally worked with Julie Watterston and Kursha Woodgate of Mexia as a client and can testify to the quality of the service I know we can deliver to clients. I am delighted we have teamed up and am truly excited to be launching this new venture.”

MWM will offer a range of services, from marketing strategy and competitor audit to brand development, PR, representation and association research. Julie Watterston of Watterston Associates added: “By combining our individual skills into a single offer, we believe that we are providing clients with a comprehensive service that can cover all of their international marketing needs.”

Julie Watterston, Director of Watterston Associates, has over 20 years’ experience in the meetings industry specialising in representation, lead generation and marketing for conference industry suppliers seeking new international business opportunities and will head the lead generation activities of MWM. Julie is an active member of ICCA and has lectured extensively at their research and data workshops.

Mrs Watterston and Mr Mills are joined at MWM by Mexia Communications Managing Director Kursha Woodgate. Mrs Woodgate brings over 20 years’ experience in communications to the team, spanning a career in journalism, agency PR and in-house marketing. Mrs Woodgate founded Mexia Communications in January 2006 and often presents at industry events including ABPCO, AIPC, Confex and ICCA. She commented: “The launch of MWM represents a new chapter for Mexia, extending our reach with expert partners to offer a comprehensive international service. I am thrilled to be working with Simon and Julie and look forward to some exciting new projects.”
