Middle East residents take to the road during Eid Al-Adha– Hertz survey

58 per cent of respondents to travel by car during annual Islamic holiday as Hertz offers big savings on Prestige, Family Collections.

DUBAI, UAE – The road is home for many Middle East residents during Eid al-Adha, as travellers look to spend multiple hours on motorways to see close family and friends over the extended holiday period marking the ‘festival of sacrifice’.

According to a survey conducted by Hertz Rent A Car, aimed at understanding travel habits of Middle East residents during the annual Islamic holiday, 39 per cent of respondents said that they would be travelling for more than 10 hours during Eid, while a further 14 per cent would be travelling for more than 25 hours.

More than half of the 523 respondents from 11 Middle East countries would choose to travel using combination of air and car (58 per cent) while a further 17 per cent would choose rail as the preferred choice of transportation. 45 per cent said they would be on the road to visit family and friends, either close to home, or in neighbouring Middle East countries.

With so many travelling on the roads, both in the Middle East, and across the world over the Eid al-Adha holiday, many residents among the Hertz survey respondents said that their biggest concern was the traffic and share volume of people on the roads.

The good news is that they will be able to benefit from the latest Eid promotion from Hertz. The world’s leading general-use car rental brand is offering a 15 per cent discount on Family (large cars) and Prestige Collection rentals in 20 countries throughout the region and further afield in the USA, Europe, or Australasia, plus airline frequent flyer miles for bookings until 20 October.

Valid for travel until 30 October and with a minimum rental period of five days, Hertz Middle East customers can choose from the likes of a Cadillac Escalade in the USA, a BMW M5 in Germany, an Audi Q7 in France, or a Mercedes Viano in Italy.

Elyes Mrad, Vice President Sales & Marketing commented: “Eid al-Adha is traditionally one of the busiest periods of the Middle East travel calendar.
