Sabre and Cyprus Airways announce distribution agreement to accelerate airline’s ambitious growth plans

Sabre supports Cyprus Airways’ vision to build strong and reliable network of flights to and from Cyprus.

NICOSIA, CYPRUS and LONDON, UK – Cyprus Airways has signed a new distribution agreement with global travel technology provider Sabre Corporation to help fuel its international growth and build a strong and reliable network of flights connecting Cyprus to its key source markets in Europe and the Middle East.

From November 2017, Cyprus Airways’ fares are available to travel agents through the Sabre travel marketplace. Under the multi-year agreement, travel agents will soon also have the option to sell ancillary services. Being part of the Sabre travel marketplace provides Cyprus Air access to millions of global travellers shopping for their next destination.

"We are excited to work with a young and ambitious carrier like Cyprus Airways, which connects key cities across Europe and the Middle East to one of the Mediterranean’s most beloved travel destinations,” said Andreas Syrigos, regional director, Greece & Cyprus, Sabre Travel Network. "An efficient, customer-oriented airline is crucial for a country like Cyprus, which welcomes more than 4.5 million travellers every year and has exhibited strong year-over-year growth rates of over 15 percent. We are proud that our industry-leading technology will underpin this success and help in realising Cyprus Airways’ expansion plans.”

Starting operations in June 2017, Cyprus Airways is the trading name of Charlie Airlines Ltd. Based at Larnaca International Airport, Cyprus Airways currently operates to a variety of international destinations, including St. Petersburg, Tel Aviv, Athens, Prague, Munich, Stuttgart, Verona and Zurich.

“It’s our long-term goal to contribute to the growth of tourism in Cyprus, while at the same time broadening the horizon for local travellers,” said Ms. Natalia Popova, Cyprus Airways Chief Commercial Officer. “Our partnership with Sabre will play an important role in the marketing and sale of Cyprus Airways tickets, reaching hundreds of thousands of travel agents”.

Sabre’s travel marketplace plays an important role in facilitating the marketing and sale of airfares, hotel rooms, rental cars, rail tickets and other types of travel, to more than 475,000 travel agents and thousands of corporations who use it to shop, book and manage travel. It is one of the world’s largest marketplaces, processing over $120 billion in estimated travel spend.
