Travelocity continues its efforts to support global “voluntourism”

For 2016, Travel for Good program to award two dream trips for philanthropic adventures.

DALLAS – Travelocity continues its commitment to support and inspire global "voluntourism" through its 2016 Travel for Good program. To support those who have the desire to embark on a philanthropic adventure, Travelocity is announcing that as part of this year's program, two deserving individuals will win their dream voluntourism trip for themselves and up to three additional travelers in conjunction with a non-profit organization. In addition, Travelocity will make a $5,000 donation directly to each of the non-profit organizations identified by the award recipients.

"We were truly inspired by all the Travel for Good submissions we received last year. It was an honor to get the opportunity to help support these ambitious and selfless travelers," said Amelia Leicht, creative and brand experiences manager, Travelocity. "Our hope is that this program continues to help those who want to travel for good to fulfill their philanthropic journeys whether it be close to home or across the globe."

In 2015, Travelocity awarded three Travel for Good dream trips to volunteer travelers which allowed them to make an impact with the charitable organization of their choice.

  • Courtney Vaudreuil, World Vets (Central America)
  • Pauline Lewis, Selamta Family Project (Ethiopia)
  • Lisa Cox, World Parkinson Congress (Portland, OR)

Applying for a travel award is easy. The Travel for Good program is now accepting submissions via Twitter and Tumblr through Wednesday, November 30 at 11:59 p.m. ET. To apply, interested individuals or groups must follow @Travelocity or @TravelForGood on Twitter, share the location and purpose of their trip incorporating the hashtags #TravelForGood and #Contest. Applications can mention the applicant's organization of choice and why they are passionate about their cause, and can be submitted in any shareable format, including text, images and video, to best demonstrate the goals of their trip and volunteer efforts.
