Tourism Organization considers privatization of tourism promotion abroad

Funds from the private tourism sector for the promotion<.> abroad of destination Greece is expected next year from the Hellenic Tourism Organization<.> (EOT). The organization says it intends to create a private company for tourism promotion and that funds will come from both the public and private sector.
With the help of the private sector, EOT hopes to double the country's tourism promotion budget. This year, the organization has budgeted a record 10 billion drachmas for the job. Two-thirds of the total goes directly to advertising with the reminder to be spent on indirect advertising and promotion.
Within the next few days, the organization will go over the bids received from 10 international advertising firms for EOT's 1999-2000 tourism promotion campaign of seven billion drachmas….
