The American Hotel & Lodging Association seminars at the 2005 Las Vegas International Hotel & Restaurant Show (LVIHRS), April 27-28 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center, will feature lodging executives who will discuss technology, diversity, energy efficiency, and much more.

During the Opening Keynote – featuring 2005 AH&LA Chairman Pedro Mandoki, CHA, president and CEO, Plantation Resort Management, Inc. – participants will share their thoughts on current issues facing the travel industry`s vertical segments. Throughout the technology and revenue seminar, hoteliers will hear who`s leading the next wave of technology invaders, learn how to build revenue, improve productivity, and raise guest satisfaction. A third gathering addresses diversity in the lodging industry. Hattie Hill, CEO of Hattie Hill Enterprises and AH&LA`s Multicultural and Diversity Advisory Council (MDAC) consultant, will moderate a panel of top hotel executives on the importance of meeting the challenges of a complex industry serving an increasingly diverse customer base. The final session will introduce hoteliers to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency`s (EPA) ENERGY STAR(r) program, an energy efficiency program that assists hotel properties with improving their bottom line and environmental performance. AH&LA has partnered with EPA`s Good Earthkeeping Alliance, which enables hoteliers to create a comprehensive strategic approach to energy management that assesses current energy performance, sets goals, and tracks savings.

These forums give hoteliers from all lodging segments the specific information they need to impact their professional development, said AH&LA President and CEO Joseph McInerney, CHA. Whether a general manager of a small hotel or CEO of a lodging company, these sessions will educate, motivate, and entertain all who attend.

Delegates also will attend more than 20 association committee meetings and social functions including the Stars of the Industry Awards Luncheon. The luncheon honors outstanding lodging employees and creative public relations and community-based programs. New this year, AH&LA and the National Association of Workforce Boards (NAWB) will debut the Hospitality Workforce Development Summit, featuring key industry leaders and human resources executives from corporations such as Radisson, Hilton, Cendant, Starwood, Gaylord Entertainment, and Richfield Hospitality, Inc. And , AH&LA`s Political Action Committee (HotelPAC) is hosting its annual HotelPAC Hospitality Golf Tour – Desert Open VII at the Paiute Golf Course to raise money for government-related initiatives on behalf of the lodging industry.

Additionally, Kerzner International Chairman of the Board Sol Kerzner, will deliver the keynote address at the International Hospitality Awards Luncheon. Kerzner also will receive the University of Nevada Las Vegas Harrah Hotel College Dean`s Medal and the International Hotelier of the Year Award.
