The local authorities are now finalising the design of the project, which will put it out to tender, according to Chairman of the Lampang Chamber of Commerce, Anusith Phuset.

The government has approved 50 million baht for the “ceramic town” project.

The Lampang Chamber of Commerce is working with construction specialists, including Siam Cement Company, to determine whether the planned ceramic structure can be made with steel reinforced concrete.

The design blueprints for the decoration of the Duangrat Road in Lampang are also being drawn up. More than two million baht have been allocate for its development, said Mr. Anusith.

The Lampang authorities plan to survey the opinions of local architects and fine arts craftsmen next month on design and construction of the “ceramic town”.
