Viet Nam`s oldest capital -Co Loa, built in 3 B.C., is an important historical and cultural relic site.
The site covers more than 830 ha in 17 hamlets of Co Loa commune and three hamlets of Uy No, Viet Hung and Duc Tu communes.
The project will not only protect the historic artefacts, but also tap the region`s tourism potential to promote local socio-economic development. It will restore the three circles of earthen walls and canals, the artefacts of My Chau tomb, Gieng Ngoc (Pearl Well), the Mach Trang communal house, pagodas and temples, the southern yard, and ancient villages.
It will build infrastructure facilities, including bridges, drainage system, car park and electric lighting.
Tourist parks with images of Vietnamese legends and a traditional puppetry village will be added to the site.
The nearby Dao Thuc puppetry village will be proposed to be recognised as a world intangible cultural heritage.
Many bronze arrows, ancient bronze drums, and bronze ploughshares have been found in three of the 10 archaeological excavation sites in the region.
The project is expected to be inaugurated on the occasion of the 1,000th anniversary of Thang Long-Ha Noi (VNA-TNA)–E002
