Indian aerospace delegation for Dubai 2005 show to feature major thrust on India`s aerospace, aeronautical and software capabilities

A delegation of leading players from the Indian aerospace industry, led by the Society of Indian Aerospace Technologies and Industries (SIATI), will be in full force at Dubai 2005

A delegation of leading players from the Indian aerospace industry, led by the Society of Indian Aerospace Technologies and Industries (SIATI), will be in full force at Dubai 2005, the ninth international aerospace exhibition, to form partnerships with global majors in research & development, manufacturing, information technology and training.

The delegation is to be headed up by the Society’s President Dr. C.G. Krishnadas Nair, a former Hindustan Aeronautics Chairman and its Secretary General Air Commodore (Retired) Joseph Varkey.

A non-profit association, SIATI has the support and patronage of major Indian aerospace organisations including Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd, the Indian Satellite Research Organisation, the Defence Research Development Organisation and India’s Directorate General of Civil Aviation.

“Our aim is to increase India’s presence in the global aerospace industry and boost trade relations with the Middle East,” said Nair. “India’s proven design and technology capabilities combined with competitive pricing, makes it a valuable market for aircraft, military and civil helicopters, aviation software, training and space technology.”

“India’s I.T. expertise is also in global focus right now. Airbus uses software designed by Indian companies and BAE Systems has a joint venture with Hindustan Aeronautics’ software division for research and development. India’s I.T. capabilities will be in key focus at the show. ”

SIATI has over 350 members of small, medium and large-scale industries engaged in the development and manufacture of aircraft, equipment, components and software solutions.

“SIATI regularly conducts industry visits within India and abroad to aerospace industries, air shows and seminars to exchange ideas, strengthen business relations and technology collaboration. The Dubai air show, with its track record of bringing together global industry leaders, research and development institutions and forging major business deals, will help us facilitate co-operation with leading international organisations,” said Air Cmde Varkey.

Dubai 2005 will be held at an expanded Dubai Airport Expo, in the United Arab Emirates, from November 20-24, next year.

“The Indian industry will benefit from the international exposure the Dubai air show regularly achieves as one of the world’s fastest growing global aerospace events renowned for generating business-to-business opportunities,” said Clive Richardson, Chief Executive, Aerospace Group, Fairs & Exhibitions (F&E), which organises the event.

“The potential of a new training and simulation pavilion at the show will also greatly assist SIATI in identifying potential partners.”

Meanwhile, plans for a third hall – Central Hall – at Airport Expo Dubai continue apace and will create an additional 10,000 square metres of space. The show will also feature, for the first time, an unmanned systems conference organised by the Association for Unmanned Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI) and Flight International.

Dubai 2005 is organised by F&E in conjunction with the Department of Civil Aviation, Government of Dubai and in collaboration with the UAE Armed Forces.
