Office opening in Johannesburg with launch customer Air Namibia

Aviareps enters South Africa

Aviareps, the world leader in airline and tourism management, has set up its first self-owned office on the African continent. The premises are located in Johannesburg, the primary city of southern Africa. Air Namibia will act as launch customer for Aviareps’ new subsidiary. The national carrier of Namibia currently operates twelve weekly flights from Windhoek to Johannesburg and another fourteen from Windhoek to Cape Town.

The team in South Africa will be headed by recently appointed General Manager Charmaine Thome. She brings along fourteen years of experience in the airline business. Her comprehensive know-how is based on various employments in top executive positions: Abercrombie & Kent, Reins Group, Swiss International Airlines and Nationwide Airlines are important occupational stations where Charmaine Thome has gained experience.

“We are very proud that our global network now also includes Africa. However, we are deliberating our expansion plans very thoroughly given the current economic situation. South Africa is an interesting emerging market and has been on our road map for a long time. We are pleased that we are now able to operate our activities locally on this market,”
states Michael Gaebler, Chairman and CEO of Aviareps.
