Dutch debut: Tribute Portfolio says ‘hello’ to Holland with first hotel in Amsterdam

Opening in April 2017, guests can stay independent at The Apollo Hotel, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel.

AMSTERDAM – Tribute Portfolio, part of Marriott International, announced further global expansion in Europe with the signing of The Apollo Hotel Amsterdam, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel. The 223-room hotel is scheduled to join Tribute Portfolio in April 2017, following a major renovation of its guestrooms, restaurant and public areas.

"Today is a significant milestone in the international roll-out of Tribute Portfolio and reflects the growing global demand for independent, high-end travel experiences," said Brian Povinelli, Senior Vice President and Global Brand Leader, Tribute Portfolio. "Amsterdam's characteristic free-spirit and open-mindedness make it a perfect fit for this indie-inspired brand. We are thrilled to be working with Apollo Hotels & Resorts to deliver truly distinctive experiences to our guests staying at this unique property."

Launched in April 2015, Tribute Portfolio is a collection of aspirational independent hotels and resorts, promising owners, loyalty members and guests alike the ability to "Stay Independent." The brand is gathering momentum across Europe, with a presence in London and Paris, with Amsterdam following soon.

"Given the brand's global reach, powerful distribution network and renowned loyalty program, Tribute Portfolio is the perfect partner for our exceptional hotel," said Francesco Monaco, Co-Founder and Member of the Executive Board at Apollo Hotels & Resorts. "We look forward to experiencing the benefits of operating under the Tribute Portfolio brand while maintaining everything that makes The Apollo Hotel Amsterdam a very special property."

Delivering an Indie Spirit in an Indie City
Set in a tranquil, canal-front location in Amsterdam's upscale Old-South (Oud-Zuid) district, The Apollo Hotel Amsterdam, A Tribute Portfolio Hotel, is within easy reach of the city's abundant historic and cultural attractions, including the lively De Pijp area, known for its indie boutiques and dining experiences. An icon of the city's hotel scene, The Apollo Hotel Amsterdam has served many notable guests and visitors over its almost 90-year history.

This winter, renowned Belgian designer Will Erens will oversee an extensive renovation of the rooms, suites, reception, lobby and restaurant with the new design set to emphasize the hotel's local essence and indie spirit. Marking a new era for this famed property, the 223 revamped guest rooms and suites will provide upscale amenities, as well as waterside or sweeping cityscape views.

The hotel's central location, combined with excellent transport links, makes The Apollo Hotel Amsterdam especially appealing for business functions and celebrations. The 606 square meters of modern meeting and event space include five multi-functional rooms, as well as several outdoor terraces and a private jetty. Hotel guests and visitors also benefit from a 24-hour business center and on-site parking facilities.

For those looking to stay active, the well-equipped fitness center and Chill Out Spa offer an array of rejuvenating and relaxing experiences. The hotel also features several independent culinary options serving both international and local cuisines, including the acclaimed Harbour Club Kitchen, a fine dining experience with a playful twist in a stylish waterfront setting, and The Marina Lounge and Terrace, which provides a relaxing social space for guests and visitors to enjoy small plates, refreshments and cocktails.

"There is incredible enthusiasm from owners and operators across the region looking to benefit from Tribute Portfolio's compelling business offer. This signing underscores our continued commitment to grow the brand in primary markets and represents an important milestone in our overall development strategy," said Carlton Ervin, Marriott International's Chief Development Officer, Europe
