The Caribbean Tourism Organization is all set for the State of the Industry Conference (SOTIC) 2023 at The Shore Club Turks & Caicos, aiming to bolster the Caribbean’s position in global tourism.
The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) is ramping up preparations for its premier event, the State of the Industry Conference (SOTIC). Slated to be held at The Shore Club Turks & Caicos in Providenciales between October 9-13, 2023, the conference is gathering significant momentum.
Before the main conference, the CTO has scheduled business meetings and media briefings related to various destinations. The main event will consist of panel discussions addressing a range of topics from tourism financing to the emergent film industry in the region. A highlight is the return of the Caribbean Youth Congress, a popular segment of previous editions.

Neil Walters, Acting Secretary General, Caribbean Tourism Organization
Neil Walters, the Acting Secretary-General of the CTO, emphasized the event’s significance. “With SOTIC being our flagship event in the Caribbean and the leadership of our new Secretary-General, Dona Regis-Prosper, we anticipate forging a clearer, united vision. Our goal is to further establish the Caribbean as the foremost choice for both leisure and business travelers,” stated Walters.

Josephine Connolly, Minister of Tourism, Turks and Caicos Islands
After a five-year gap, the conference’s return to Turks and Caicos is a testament to the region’s commitment to tourism excellence. Josephine Connolly, the Minister of Tourism for the Turks and Caicos Islands, expressed her enthusiasm for hosting the event. “SOTIC represents a pivotal moment for us in the post-COVID era, enabling us to guide the conversation on our region’s evolution,” Connolly remarked.
Minister Connolly, who also holds the position of Vice Chair of the group of British Overseas countries and territories within the CTO, extended a warm invite to delegates. She underscored the conference’s significance and is eager to spotlight Turks and Caicos Islands’ allure and dedication to sustainable tourism. Emphasizing regional collaboration, she highlighted its power in sending a unified message to stakeholders both within and outside the Caribbean.
