Report – Frankfurt – IMEX 2009: The Egyptian Consortium for Incentive Travel and Event Management (ECITEM) is launched at the IMEX. The consortium was initiated by the Egyptian Tourist Authority with its branch office, the Agyptisches Fremdenverkehrsamt in Frankfurt/ Germany, and the Egyptian Tourism Federation, in cooperation with high-ranking MICE-experts and the top destination management companies (DMC) in Egypt.
The main objective of ECITEM is to ensure that companies and industry professionals offering business travel to Egypt, namely incentive and event management services, abide by a unified equitable working code of conduct and provide high-quality service.
ECITEM, the new non-profit consortium of reputable and experienced service providers within Egypt’s tourism industry, endorsed by the Ministry of Tourism in Egypt, provides an official platform to maintain and develop high-level service products and human resources development with education programmes in order to bring more German and international MICE business to Egypt and generally broaden trade opportunities. Common guidelines and a code of conduct for the MICE-industry in Egypt are created in order to optimize communication, service, quality management and education in the field of MICE. All members, both companies and individuals, will practice ECITEM’s policies and code of ethics which are currently being developed and which will potentially be presented at the EIBTM in Barcelona at the end of the year.
The benefits of ECITEM are various: A database of all ECITEM members listed as recommended suppliers will be circulated to all Egyptian Tourist Authority Offices worldwide, international incentive houses and service providers. The members will also have access to a databank of international incentive houses along with recommended local suppliers to help their company progress. Furthermore, a segment of the Egypt Stand at specialized trade fairs will be allocated to ECITEM members.
