Rally of the Pharaohs in Egypt on World Tourism Day

While Egypt and the whole world would mark the World Tourism Day next September, the Rally of the Pharaohs would kick off in Egypt and would go on for 12 days, covering a distance of 3,300 kilometers.

The Rally of the Pharaohs has become the 2nd top rally at the international level. The international event is usually covered by worldwide media and aired in more than 52 countries. More than 50 journalists usually accompany the racers, in addition to more than 100 companions.



The rally would include 130 vehicles and 100 motorcycles. Two helicopters would always accompany the racers for safety and medical emergencies. There would also be a number of helicopters, sent by the Egyptian Defense Ministry, for safety as well as press coverage, in addition to an ambulance plane that would contain all medical requirements in cases of emergency, with 25 specialists on board of different medical branches.There would also be six trucks carrying medical requirements as well as monitoring equipment and fuel for the racing vehicles.



The race is being organized by Flash Tours in Egypt in collaboration with the international organizer Jacky X, who was a racer himself at the Rally of the Pharaohs 1982. Jacky X as well as Fouad Hassoun and Amgad Hassoun, Flash Tours Chairmen, attended the press conference held by Tourism Minister Dr. Mamdouh EI-Beltagui on the Rally activities and preparations. The press conference was also attended by the Egyptian Tourist Authority Chairman Adel Abdul Aziz.



Dr. Beltagui asserted that the Rally of the Pharaohs is one of the important international sports events, which was added to the international sports agenda in 2000.



Rally of the Pharaohs has also been nominated to win the World Rally Cup for the year 2005, said Dr. Beltagui, pointing out its tourist importance in Egypt. He described it as one of the important tourist events on the Egyptian agenda. The Minister declared that he gave instructions to all the bodies concerned to provide the Rally with all the possible facilities so as to make the event a success.



He added that the Rally is being held under the auspices of the Tourism Ministry in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministries of Defense, Interior, Civil Aviation, Environment, Petroleum and the Customs Department as well.



Dr. Beltagui also gave instructions for the establishment of an operation room, to be responsible for the preparations and follow-up along the different phases of the Rally.



This year, the Rally of the Pharaohs would cover a distance of 3,300 kilometers in the Egyptian Western Desert, passing through the different Egyptian oases, which would be an excellent opportunity to shed light on adventures tourism in Egypt, thus making wonderful promotion through the different satellite channels covering the event.



The opening and closing ceremonies of the Rally would be at the Pyramids Plateau.

The participating delegations would arrive in Egypt on September 24 and the first phase would kick off on September 26.

The seven phases of the Rally would go on until October 2.
