CWT Travel Management priorities show effective traveler communication will be key to achieving 2013 goals

CWT has recently introduced two new functionalities to its messaging services to give travel managers even greater flexibility and additional options when communicating to their travelers and other key audiences.

AMSTERDAM – Findings from CWT’s latest travel manager survey indicate that the vast majority of global and regional travel managers will be using communication to achieve travel program objectives in 2013. Whether the goal is to improve travel policy compliance, mandate the use of preferred hotels, or provide critical destination-specific information in terms of safety and security, travel managers will be using different means of communication to reach their travelers.

However, coordinating the communication of important information to thousands of business travelers on an individual basis can be tricky. With this in mind, CWT has further enhanced its customizable, automated messaging offer, CWT Program Messenger, to help companies send traveler-specific messages on cost-reduction initiatives or destination-specific information to complement their safety and security strategies.

CWT has recently introduced two new functionalities to its messaging services to give travel managers even greater flexibility and additional options when communicating to their travelers and other key audiences. For instance, travel managers now have the ability to send notifications in near real-time, so that their travelers or travel arrangers can be notified almost immediately if they have made a booking that does not respect the company’s travel policy. They can also schedule messaging and send SMS notifications based on a specific event in the itinerary. For example, they can schedule an SMS to be sent to travelers’ mobile phones upon their arrival in a specific city to inform them of the ground transportation options that they should use.

“In the past, when I wanted to contact my travelers on issues related to travel policy compliance or to provide them with useful information on specific destinations, I had to run reports and slice and dice data just to understand who I needed to contact and how to get in touch with them. With CWT Program Messenger, I can quickly set up automatic messages to address specific situations or behaviors. As soon as a traveler meets the criteria of my policy, they get a message,” commented the head of travel for the world’s largest online retailer.

CWT Program Messenger gives customers the ability to add or amend messages at any time to ensure that the information is adapted to the short-and mid-term priorities of their travel program strategy.

“The most important use of the tool so far has been to help me inform travelers about a change in our preferred rental-car contract; I wanted to be sure that travelers included insurance coverage when they picked up their rental car as it was no longer included in our corporate rate. I’ve also set up targeted communication to reduce the number of hotels booked outside of the negotiated program as well as ensuring that travelers receive destination-specific messages on visa and vaccination requirements,” she continued.
