Dutch transport minister visits the Nakheel sales centre

During her official visit to the United Arab Emirates, Karla Peijs, Dutch Minister of Transport, Public Works and Water Management and European Minister

During her official visit to the United Arab Emirates, Karla Peijs, Dutch Minister of Transport, Public Works and Water Management and European Minister (PPE) along with a delegation of Dutch businessmen visited the Nakheel Sales Centre on Al Sufouh Road recently. During he visit the delegation was given a presentation on Nakheel`s numerous projects and were greatly impressed by the various models and architectural designs displayed of the future projects, which are positioning Dubai today globally.

Whilst in Dubai, Karla Peijs has been in discussions to learn more about the Emirate and to initiate closer business ties with Holland, as well as to learn more about the challenges and initiatives that Dubai has overcome to meet the vision laid down for the economy. She has met with several dignitaries, including His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and UAE Defence Minister.

Wahid Attalla, Executive Director for Nakheel, met with Karla Peijis and headed the presentations to the Dutch delegation. They were significantly interested in seeing Nakheel`s internationally renowned projects especially, The Palm developments and The World. The vision, planning, research and logistics which are an integral part of Nakheel`s developments not to mention, the challenging schedules set to complete them, overwhelmed the Dutch delegation. A detailed presentation was also given on the latest technology that is being implemented within the transport systems, as well as the enormous undertaking of creating a ten lane bridge which will connect the Sheikh Zayed Road to The Palm, Jumeirah.

He also mentioned that the infrastructure implementation was running well on schedule with much of the footprints where either completed or clearly visible and on full view to the world from the sky.

During the tour and presentation, Attalla outlined the key components of the projects within the Nakheel portfolio and highlighted the positive opportunities these will all deliver to Dubai – particularly from the tourism perspective. Nakheel has been one of the driving forces behind creating a unique new concept of leisure, living and tourism and offering extraordinary experiences to residents and visitors alike. The expansion of Dubai`s coast line is a unique achievement in itself and Nakheel will continue to demonstrate that its developments not only enhance Dubai as a premier international tourist destination but are also an ideal international residential option as well, he said.

Continuing Attalla said, Karla Peijs` visit to our sales centre is a great honour and an endorsement of our business ties with Dutch businesses such as Van Orrd, as well as for our signature developments. Such visits by policy makers, business and industry experts is a true tribute to the extensive attraction of our innovative developments which are offering some of the most unique and inspired investment opportunities on a worldwide basis. Dubai is now synonymous with achieving what is considered, by many, the impossible.

Peijs and the delegation were later escorted on a special one-hour long sightseeing boat tour organised by Nakheel in order to get a feel for The Palm, Jumeirah and The World to better understand the reclamation and development process of creating these islands. The tour gave the projects more substance and demonstrated that these iconic developments were much more than just concepts.
